DARK HORIZON from Italy come up with their third album since their initial formation in 1996 and once more they bring joy to our hearts with their lush symphonic arrangements and ripping guitars that flow into well composed and geniusly executed epics. Elements of 70s italian progressive rock and the still current wave of symphonic powermetal that has started by the early 90s bump into each other, get spiced with 80s neoprog rock and early symphonic progressive metal. It is a hot run through different atmospheres and emotional tunings here, always played with highest skills, refined with a crystal clear sound that still gives room to the song itself to breathe, to live. DARK HORIZON have a good hand for arrangements that show complexity and accessibility. This compositorial lusciousness will certainly scare off those into more earthy blues based heavy stuff, but fanatics for big and deep melodies with an exalted emotional approach, great pathos and elegant structures will certainly fall in love with "Angel secret masquerade". You can definitely tell already from the cover what to expect here. Highly recommended for all into italian symphonic metal as we get just awesome songs here.
