Wow, this is a heavy piece in every aspect. Deathmaster, courtesy of the infamous DOOMSWORD, the Lombardy`s truest and certainly only Vikings, has joined this band, FURY`N`GRACE, formerly unknown to my ears. Well, I have been a dedicated fanatic concerning his early works with his main band but lost interest over the years and as if he had known, his cooperation with FURY`N`GRACE for me is one of the most creative, inspiring and haunting releases the metal scene is allowed to experience this year. Actually it is the best new MANILLA ROAD album next to “Playground of the damned”. Let me explain. Certainly good ol` Shark and his sidekick for ten years Hellroadie have their very own voices but Deathmaster is a charismatic figure as well and does his job with dedication, passion, determination and big emotions, even though he holds back his voice and makes it become just a part of the whole work of art. The compositions then are similar to what MANILLA ROAD do since their comeback in 2001, long, overhanging songs with playful structures, woven by every contributing musician. You have to take a closer listen to this, use all your patience to get into it and then get lost in here. This is certainly far from the current anthemic viking metal trend and definitely not heroic but you will certainly feel the fire running through the physical and spiritual appearances of the musicians while listening. If you have a fondness for the current MANILLA ROAD and the more excessive RUSH albums, this is definitely yours.
